Below I have included some brainstorming that I carried out when trying to look at my project closer. I narrowed down different ideas and have decided that I want to follow on with the theme of concealment and how we choose to conceal our identity for social media. I think that social media is easily overlooked, most people have access to a form of social media and behind a screen they are given the opportunity to say or be anything they choose to be. With mainstream media's expectations of how one should look and act, our choices on what we show to other people is altered in order to feel socially accepted. To be literally 'liked' on apps such as Instagram and Facebook.
I have decided to use models and focus on the body, as in my opinion, it is one of the most vulnerable parts of ourselves. However i want the body to be concealing and trying to hide itself- however, at this stage I have not decided how I am going to do this. I was initially thinking of water- but it will be hard to explain how the body is being concealed in see-through water. I also thought of using shadows over the body, and this would need testing and finding photographer research that could help inspire me. Using shadows or water is also a very symbolic way of describing my project, however i think this gives the audience a discourse to decide for themselves how they react to the images.
Although I included the possibility of parodising my images to show how social media is pervasive to body image - the idea of an impossible beauty, I think that i would rather take a more vulnerable element into my images.
