Week 6: mood board

When searching for images for my mood board i typed into google:
'Bath photo shoots'
'water photo shoots'
'water submerged photography'

These are only some of the results that showed up and the ones that have given me some direction moving forward. The images that catch my attention are those that look like the subject is being submerged into some sort of milk water. The white, milky, ominous surface is really interesting and think it would work well as acting as the element which submerges my subject to act as way for them to conceal but also to conform to media. I also like the close up's of the subjects face as it think it is really interesting to see the vulnerability of the subject slowly deepening into an unknown element. The white water stop the audience from seeing what lies underneath and i think this will create the unknown well being for people's future if they consist to obsess over digital media's power and the control they possess over consumers.

Another thing i wanted to point out was that in every single image, apart from one, focused on a female subject. In some cases, the female pose in a lustful form, wearing makeup and framing their body as if to show off their femininity. This is not a theme i will be taking on through my project, i will be photographing men and women of different ages and sizes. I plan on having my subject's are bare as they feel comfortable to go, only to expose the theme of vulnerability of sacrificing their physical selves for the online world.

I think it will be interesting to show men and women in my images as it will be unique and will hopefully surprise my audience, who wouldn't expect to see naked men posing for my photography. This relates to how i felt when seeing Nan Goldin's image, Ryan in the Tub. I was especially surprised but also lured in as i never expected to see a man looking so vulnerable in an image.
